GOLD medal winners galore
Have you been hooked on the achievements of our Olympians and Paralympians over the last couple of months?
The town of Lydney are set to welcome home their history making star, Andy Lewis, who won Gold in the men’s PT2 triathlon. The whole town are preparing for the event, which will have taken place on Saturday 24 September. The planned celebrations will see Andy arriving on an open top bus; there will be free music, food in the park, and free parking.
Although this event will have passed by the time this has been published, we know that our team will be joining the whole town in celebrating his success. This was the first time the triathlon has been part of the programme at the Paralympics, and although it is half the distance of the Olympic event, its transitions are arduous. When Lewis transitioned from the bike to running, not only did he have to change his trainers, he also had to put on a new leg.
Earlier this month we got a glimpse of some other gold medal winners when the Tour of Britain hit South Wales. Aberdare hosted Stage 5, and Kelly Rayner and the team were ecstatic when they caught a glimpse of Sir Bradley Wiggins. The race also passed our Coleford office, and again our team were there to cheer the cyclists on.
