Why we are the triple threat you need to sell or let your property

The way we advertise property has evolved over the years, and continues to do so. Gone are the times when properties were only advertised in the local newspaper; now we have to use a multitude of mediums.  As a proactive estate agent covering a variety of areas we need to ensure that the tools we use to market reach far and wide, and are also effective. 

Property portals began to emerge nearly 20 years ago with the launch of Rightmove and its vision to revolutionise house-hunting.  All these years later, it is still the number one property portal in the country and continues to push the boundaries to make searching for your new home easier and more enjoyable.  Let’s be honest, how many of you have had a nosey on Rightmove, even when you’re not looking to move home? Yes, guilty!

Fast forward 8 years, and another company came to the property portal table: Zoopla.  Although initially launched as an online estate agent, it switched its function to being a portal having realised it was more lucrative and, more importantly, less stressful.  A worthy competitor for Rightmove, Zoopla’s creativity in developing new tools to focus your search is worth noting. 

There have been other property portals of note, but most have been snapped up by a bigger company - that is, until 2015, when a new portal emerged: OnTheMarket.  There has been much written about this company due to its initial ‘one other portal’ rule.  OnTheMarket was set up a consortium to challenge Rightmove and Zoopla, created by agents for agents.  It has quickly risen to become the third most popular property portal in the UK.

So why are we telling you this?

We know that when it comes to searching for a property to buy or let, everyone has their favourite and the majority only use one portal.  Therefore, if your property is listed on only two portals and it’s not someone’s preferred choice, there is a chance that your property won’t be seen.  Due to OnTheMarket’s initial one portal rule, estate agents have ensured your property listing has been on as many sites as possible, but it wasn’t possible to list on all of the big three.
